(mini) Book reviews + recommendations pt.2✨📚

hello friend

Welcome back to A Curly Sue’s Ramblings!

I have been procrastinating this post long enough, and I’m FINALLY doing it!! I’m so sorry that I’ve let a month pass by without posting the second part of Mini Book Reviews & Recommendations. The featured image is from google because I’m too lazy to make my own

Now, let’s get into PART 2! If you haven’t read part one, read that first. I also JUST did a bookshelf tour, so be sure to check that out. I’ve reviewed some of the books from my bookshelf here.

1.Keeper of the lost cities – Vol.1.

I absolutely love this book! (I know I said I’d be doing an in-depth review of this book, but I’m putting that aside. for now.) What I love the most about this book is that Sophie (the mc) is introduced to the lost cities the same time as the reader is. I also really like Sophie’s character a lot!

I will also be including the description of the book, so you know it covers the “Book recommendations” part😂😜

Description:

Twelve-year-old Sophie Foster has a secret. She’s a Telepath—someone who hears the thoughts of everyone around her. It’s a talent she’s never known how to explain. Everything changes the day she meets Fitz, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere and also reads minds. She discovers there’s a place she does belong, and that staying with her family will place her in grave danger. In the blink of an eye, Sophie is forced to leave behind everything and start a new life in a place that is vastly different from anything she has ever known.

2. The Haunted Museum Series

This has to be my favourite horror book series EVER. I just love these books so much!! there are 4 books in the series so far, and I think I’ve read 3. I came across this series in my school library – its where I chill out mostly😂 I read the a book called “The Phantom Music box” and it was a great book! I was so happy when I found another book in this series in the library. so basically, there’s a haunted museum filled with a whole bunch of (haunted) things. My fav book from the series is The pearl necklace. It was SO scary – but not rlly. hehe.

Description: (of the first book : the titanic locket)

The Haunted Museum is filled with spooky objects, included a mysterious locket from the Titanic. But when Jessica and Samantha mistakenly open it, they are cast into a terrifying adventure aboard their cruise ship. Suzanne Weyn’s new series awaits!

3. Something Upstairs

ooh another horror tale. this is not a series. and tbh, I did not like this book very much. It was pretty scary and page-turning in the beginning, but halfway through the book, I lost interest. I tried re-reading it, but some parts were confusing and.. it’s just not something I’d read. I would write the description of the book myself, but I’m not sure if that would be correct, so here’s one from google.

Description:

.”Something Upstairs” concerns a 12-year-old boy named Kenny Huldorf who has moved to a new area and discovers a ghost, Caleb, in a room. Caleb was the slave of a previous owner of the home, and is stuck there until someone can help set him free. Kenny travels back in time with Caleb to find his murderer and comes to a dilemma on whether he can return to the present or save his new friend.

4. Bad Guys: Episode 9

This is one of my favourite books of all time😜 it is SO funny and the illustrations are really good! the only bad thing about this book is that its too short. you can finish reading it in like 10 mins. No kidding.

I’ve also read 1 other book in this series. I really want to read the others soon!

Description:

When Mr. Wolf is blown up to Godzilla proportions, the Bad Guys find themselves in monster-sized trouble. They must figure out how to stop an alien invasion and get Wolfie back to his old self before the world is totally destroyed. Good thing they have the International League of Heroes on their side, and some newly honed superpowers ready to put to the test..

5. Ella Diaries

i’VE read 2 books in this series, and I didn’t like it a lot.. It’s just like Dork Dairies (one of my all-time-fav book series) but I feel like its for 7-9 year olds? I don’t know. I like that it has lots of drawings in it. 🤷‍♀️ and I feel like this is a guilty-pleasure read. I still want to read the other books even if I don’t like it THAT much😂👀

I couldn’t find a description of the SERIES, but I found one of “Double Dare” – a book from the series.

Description: (of Double Dare)

It’s a new school year and everything is perfect. Ella has a new uniform, glittery stationery and can’t wait to meet her new teacher. Until class starts, that is — and Everything goes wrong. She can’t believe she has to sit next to her absolutely Worst Enemy Ever, Peach Parker!

6. Daddy Long-legs

This is one of my favorite (I keep saying this lol) classics, it’s page-turning, interesting and it’s kind of like reading a journal, except that the whole book is actually LETTERS. I actually skim read the last half..But,. It was a really good story 😜

Description:

Daddy-Long-Legs is a 1912 epistolary novel by the American writer Jean Webster. It follows the protagonist, Jerusha “Judy” Abbott, as she leaves an orphanage and is sent to college by a benefactor whom she has never seen.

I want to write one more book review, but I can’t think of anything at the moment. So I guess that’s it?
